2. Content and services

The most important thing about content is that it should be easy to read. Use internal links to keep the flow of your web pages consistent and logical. Don't be afraid of including external links to other sites because your visitors will return anyway if your site has information relevant to them.
  • Keep file sizes (both text and images) to a minimum. Try and keep the total size of each page to a maximum of 50 kilobytes (KB). This will take the average user about 30 seconds to download.
  • Remember that not everyone will have the latest browser or the latest plug-ins, so if you must include functions that rely on these, provide your visitors with alternative ways of viewing your site.
  • Always include the date the site was last updated.
  • Include your email address and if possible, any other relevant contact information such as telephone number and postal address.
  • Supply the customer with lots of support options and where to get more information.
  • Provide customers with as much information as you can, but try to keep it relevant.
