A search engine is simply a directory of internet addresses organised in a searchable format by topics and keywords. Searching using a search engine is usually free, as is listing your site with one. Some of the major search engines include Altavista, Yahoo, Northernlight, Excite and Lycos. There are literally hundreds of other search engines that can be used to promote your site. To extract maximum benefit, list keywords that you think potential visitors would use to find information about your product or service. Then, submit away.
